On January 17th, the 174,000 cubic meter large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier 'Limerick' built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading, was delivered four months ahead of schedule at Changxing Island, Shanghai. This marks the first ship delivered by Hudong-Zhonghua in the new year, opening the curtain for the concentrated delivery of LNG carriers in 2025, and also symbolizes the launch of Hudong-Zhonghua's new strategy for doubling the production capacity of LNG carriers.

The 'Limei' is the fifth generation 174,000 cubic meter large LNG carrier independently designed and developed by Hudong-Zhonghua, and it is the fourth type of ship in the 'Changheng series' that has been specially tailored and delivered for the 'Qatar Gas 100 Ship Project' according to the technical standards of the Qatar Energy Company's operation of the world's largest LNG fleet. The ship integrates the latest design concepts, the best technical equipment, the strongest environmental performance, the most forward-looking features, and the essence of the design of Hudong-Zhonghua's LNG carriers over generations.

During the construction process of this series of vessels, Houdong Zhonghua has continuously innovated and optimized the process methods, fully promoted digital construction, and continuously improved lean production, achieving a shorter overall construction cycle for each vessel. Since the completion and delivery of the first vessel on September 12 last year, in just 4 months and 5 days, Houdong Zhonghua has cumulatively delivered 4 vessels, showcasing the 'Chinese speed' of LNG carrier construction and receiving high praise from the Qatari shipowner.
