On the morning of December 18th, the Green Energy Pearl, a 174,000-cubic-meter large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier independently designed and built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation(CSSC),, was named and delivered 8 months ahead of schedule on Changxing Island in Shanghai. Members of the Party Leadership Group and Chief Accountant Jia Haiying of CSSC, and Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager Yan Hongtao of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.

The Green Energy Pearl is the eighth LNG ship delivered by Hudong Zhonghua this year, setting a new record for the annual delivery of LNG ships by Chinese shipbuilders and presenting an impressive performance with the delivery of 21 ships, winning orders for 51 ships, and exceeding the target by delivering three additional LNG ships. This achievement marks a new milestone in the annual delivery of LNG ships in China and successfully achieves the dual goals of efficiency and benefit growth for the year 2024, bringing the Year of the Dragon to a perfect close.

Hudong Zhonghua has already secured orders for 26 large container ships across five batches and four types this year, with the total value reaching over 15 billion RMB when settled in RMB. This has set a new record for the largest domestic ship order settled in RMB, contributing to the internationalization of the RMB.

The Green Energy Pearl is the sister ship of the world's first fifth-generation Changheng Series large LNG carrier, the Green Energy Ying, which was completed and delivered in May this year. It is also the second vessel in China's largest LNG carrier construction project to date, the CNOOC Medium and Long-term FOB Resource Matching LNG Carrier Project.

To date, Hudong Zhonghua has received orders totaling 150 billion yuan. The company plans to deliver more than 10 large LNG vessels by 2025, creating a new situation for the batch, normalized, standardized and rhythmic construction of large LNG vessels, leading high-quality development in the construction of China's high-end ship types.
